Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in performing arts (now called Maureen O'Hara), would be considered, in America's eyes, into the category of child prodigy. This is a natural quality for a woman of Irish heritage, who was nurtured in her early days by talented family members and parents. Maureen was welcomed into this caring haven on August 17 1920 at Ranelagh (a suburb of Dublin), Ireland. Marguerita Lu. FitzSimons made a name for herself with her contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman in Dublin who also controlled a portion of the Irish Shamrock Rovers soccer team. Maureen FitzSimons was the second daughter of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons rounded out this amazing family. Maureen was a great athlete and played rough, athletic games as a child. Her natural ability to perform was the perfect match for her interest in sport. In the end, she won the majority of the Feis Awards for her dramatic and acting performances within her own country. When she was in her 14th year she joined an organization called the Abbey Theater to follow her goal of studying operatic and classical vocals.
